Punjab Kings have spent fifteen seasons being the league romantic, all promise and no platform. The move to the new Mullanpur stadium has, almost by accident, given them an identity.

The surface has genuine bounce, and Punjab have built around it: bowlers who hit the deck, batters who play the pull without fear. Shreyas Iyer has given the side the calm it always lacked.
